Privacy Policy

The short version: Spot Hawk is built privacy-first. When you use it without an account, your spots, tracks, and notes are stored only in your own browser — we never receive or store them. We only collect personal information if you create an account to sync or subscribe to Pro.

This Privacy Policy explains how Lone Mangrove, LLC ("we," "us") handles information in connection with the Spot Hawk website and web application at spot-hawk.com (the "Service").

1. Information we collect

When you use Spot Hawk without an account

Your saved spots, tracks, notes, and preferences are stored locally in your browser (using localStorage). This information stays on your device. We do not have a server that receives or stores it, and we cannot see it.

When you create an account (sync / Pro)

Email address — used to sign you in and contact you about your account.
Your synced content — if you turn on sync, the spots and tracks you choose to sync are stored in our database so they appear across your devices.
Subscription status — whether you have an active Pro subscription.

Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not collect or store your full card number. Stripe provides us only with limited billing information needed to manage your subscription.

Automatically collected

We use Google Analytics to understand general usage (pages viewed, approximate location, device/browser), which sets cookies on your device. This helps us improve the app; we do not use it for advertising. Our hosting provider (Vercel) may also log standard technical information such as IP address for security and reliability.

2. Third-party services

The Service relies on these providers. When you view the map or request data, the relevant provider receives the map coordinates you are viewing — not your saved spots:

NOAA (Tides & Currents) — tide predictions and stations.
National Weather Service — weather and location/state lookup.
Esri — satellite map imagery.
FCC Census Block API — determines which state you're viewing for regulations.
Supabase — account sign-in and sync storage (only if you create an account).
Stripe — payment processing (only if you subscribe).
Google Analytics — anonymous usage statistics.
Vercel — website hosting.

3. How we use information

To provide and operate the Service.
To sync your content across your devices (if enabled).
To process subscriptions and provide support.
To protect the Service from abuse.

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the service providers listed above, as needed to operate the Service, or if required by law.

5. Your choices and rights

Local data: clear your browser's site data to remove spots/tracks stored on your device.
Export: export your spots to a GPX file at any time.
Account data: you may request access to or deletion of your account and synced data by emailing us.

6. Data retention

Locally stored data remains until you clear it. Account and synced data are retained while your account is active and deleted on request or a reasonable time after account closure.

7. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

8. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
